Last Night's Bedtime Story...

Here's the bedtime story I told Chloe last night:

Chloe: Will you tell me a story?

Me: Once upon a time there were two princeses named Chloe and Lily and they lived in a beautiful caslte with their father King Benjmamin. One day the princeses got new beautiful red dresses and they were so excited to walk throught the woods to their friends house for a party that night waering their new red dresses. That morning, as the king was leaving for a far-off country, he told the princesses that it was very important that they not wear their red dresses to the party but must instead wear green dresses. The princesses thought about that all day. They said "why must we wear our green dresses when our red dresses are so new and beautiful?" Well, when the time came for them to dress for their trip through the woods...which dresses did they wear?

Chloe: Their RED dresses!

Me: So they were disobedient?

Chloe: Yeah!

Me: Ok, they wore their red dresses and as they were walking through the woods, a large dragon came down out of the mountain. Now this dragon had very bad eyesight and if the girls had been wearing green dresses, he would not have seen them but since they were wearing red dresses, he saw them easlily and captured them, took them to his cave and ate them up!

Chloe: But, how did the girls get out? Did they cut a hole in the dragon's tummy?

Me: No, they died, the dragon chewed them to bits and the king was very sad.

Chloe: Tell the the story again!

Me: [I repeated the story up the point where the princesses pick their dress...] which dresses did they choose?

Chloe: GREEN ones!

Me: [I continued with the story...] the dragon came down from the mountain and snifed the air and said "I think I smell princesses but I can't see them." The girls hid until the dragon passed by and they were SAFE. They got to the party and...

Chloe: Did they have their red dresses packed in their backpacks?

Me: [laughing] Yes! they had their red dresses packed in their GREEN backpacks and when they got to the party, they changed into their red dresses and had a wonderful time dancing with all the handsome princes and their father, King Benjamin was happy that they were safe because the were obedient.
